An excursion program for accompanying persons.

Excursion time: 9.00.-16.00.

Assembly at the Astoria Hotel Hall at 08.50.!

During a three-hour city tour around Saint –Petersburg, you will see the most beautiful and well- known places in the city. You will stroll along the first and main street of Saint Petersburg – Nevsky Prospect – See ‘Gostiny Dvor’ and ‘Dom Knigi’, the Stroganov Palace, and of course, Admiralty – the first shipping yard of Saint Petersburg- the beginning of Nevsky Prospect.

You will visit the main squares of the city:

- The Palace Square formed by three buildings- the Hermitage, the General Staff building with a Triumphal arch, the building of the Guards House Staff and Alexander Column is one of the most outstanding architectural ensembles in St. Petersburg.

- On the Senate Square (the Decembrists’ Square) you will see The Bronze Horseman, a monument to Peter the Great, the founder of the city, the Senate and Synod buildings which now house the Russian Constitutional Court.

- Saint Isaac’s Square where you can admire the greatness of Saint Isaac’s Cathedral, the bronze monument to Nicholas I, and the grace of the Mariinsky Palace which is now the city’s Legislative Assembly.

You will also visit the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island, a place, from which you can see a vast and magnificent panorama of the centre of Saint Petersburg. Among them is the Hare Island where in 1703 Peter the Great began construction of the Peter and Paul fortress, himself laying the foundation stones.

The “Aurora” cruiser is not very far from here, the monument of the October revolution.

The estimated lunch time is 12:00. After the lunch you will have a shopping time in the Galereya Shopping Mall (with an English speaking guide). You will be brought back to the Astoria hotel by 16:00.

Before the welcome dinner, participants will be guided by boats through the canals and rivers of St. Petersburg.

Excursion time: 17.30.-19.00.

Assembly at the Astoria hotel entrance at 17.00.!

After the boat excursion you will be accompanied back to the Astoria hotel.

Assembly for the Welcome Dinner is at 19.15. in the Astoria hall. You will be accompanied to the venue of the Welcome dinner at the Four Seasons hotel (everything is within walking distance).

A full day excursion will be organized for participants. Three options are available. All excursions suggest lunch.

Option 1: Peterhof (* visiting the Hermitage is also possible)

Excursion time: 7:45- 21:00

Country excursion. Excursion to the Peterhof Grand Palace and Park (6 hours)

Visit to the Summer palace and fountain park.

The Peterhof Museum Complex is one of the most popular museums not only in Russia, but in the world. Peter the Great planned Peterhof as the residence of a sea king. This was to be his incarnation of Russia as a great European power, with a foothold on the shores of the world's oceans, capable of competing with the finest Western courts — above all, with Versailles. The Peterhof Museum Complex is rightfully regarded as the "capital of fountains." Included in the state register of most valuable cultural objects of the Russian Federation, Peterhof now bears the proud title of one of the "Seven Wonders of Russia."

You will visit the largest of Peterhof's palaces- The Grand Palace. The palace-ensemble is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Estimated time of lunch is 14:00. After the lunch you will have a brief sightseeing tour by bus. The entrance to the Hermitage Museum is planned for 18:00. It is a museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The second-largest in the world, it was founded in 1764 when Empress Catherine the Great acquired an impressive collection of paintings from the Berlin merchant Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. The museum celebrates the anniversary of its founding each year on 7 December, Saint Catherine's Day. It has been open to the public since 1852.

After the excursion you will be brought back to the Astoria Hotel.

Option 2: Tsarskoye Selo (* visiting the Hermitage is also possible)

Excursion time: 10:15 - 21:00

Excursion in the Catherine Palace and the Amber room.

The Catherine Palace (Yekaterininskiy dvorets) is a Rococo palace located in the town of Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin), 30 km south of St. Petersburg, Russia. It was the summer residence of the Russian tsars.

The Amber Room is a world-famous chamber decorated in amber panels backed with gold leaf and mirrors, located in the Catherine Palace of Tsarskoye Selo near Saint Petersburg. Constructed in the 18th century in Prussia, the original Amber Room was dismantled and eventually disappeared during World War II. Before its loss, it was considered an "Eighth Wonder of the World". A reconstruction was installed in the Catherine Palace between 1979 and 2003.
